Did you know that better breathing could mean better thinking?
I’ve talked a lot about stress, and most know that proper breathing can calm us down and ease some of that stress. Most call it deep breathing, but the more accurate term is slow breathing.
Slow breathing isn’t just about using our diaphragm; it’s also about relaxing our muscles, closing our mouths, and giving longer exhales. Sometimes, it even involves holding our breath. When done right, slow breathing can result in better health, a better mood, and better thinking.
Now, why does it matter that we do it properly? Well, there’s a reason for everything. There’s a reason why we have to inhale through our nose, keep our mouth closed, extend our exhales, hold our breath, and extend and retract our diaphragm. We’ll discuss all those things the next time I talk with you, so make sure you tune in. But for now, just know that practicing slow breathing is totally worth it because it’s great for our heart and brain.
By the way, this whole month of May, our private Facebook group is focusing on controlling blood pressure, and that includes talking about proper breathing. So if you haven’t joined our “Keep Your Brain Sharp Community” yet, you’re missing out! It’s totally free, but you need to become a member because you’re going to hear a lot of valuable information that I believe will definitely help you and your brain.
